About Mathew Clark
CISSP. 15+ years defending data. Now I help people stay secure without needing a technical background.

The short version
I'm Mathew Clark. I'm a CISSP-certified cybersecurity professional with 15+ years in IT security, based in Adelaide, Australia. By day I'm a Data Protection Manager at Avanade. In what passes for spare time, I write the Secure in Seconds newsletter and author practical security guides for people who don't want to become security experts - they just want to stop worrying about it.
Why Secure in Seconds exists
Most cybersecurity content is written by experts for experts. The rest is written by marketers trying to sell you fear. Neither helps the person whose mum got scammed on Facebook Marketplace, or the small business owner who just got their first ransomware email.
I started Secure in Seconds to close that gap. The newsletter goes out every Friday - one story, one actionable step, five minutes to read. The blog goes deeper for people who want to understand the why. And the book, S.E.C.U.R.E. - Practical Cybersecurity, is the 193-page version for anyone who wants to lock down their digital life in a weekend.
What I write about
- Family and personal security: scam texts, kids on devices, phone privacy, router security, password managers, identity protection. Browse family posts →
- Small business and IT security: Microsoft 365 hardening, Copilot rollouts, Zero Trust, MFA, incident response, compliance, Australian Privacy Principles. Browse business posts →
- AI security and safety: sleeper agents, model alignment, Copilot data leakage, autonomous vulnerability discovery. The hard stuff, explained in plain English.
Qualifications and experience
- CISSP - Certified Information Systems Security Professional
- 15+ years in enterprise IT security and data protection
- Data Protection Manager, Avanade - consulting on Microsoft security, compliance, and AI risk for enterprises
- Author of S.E.C.U.R.E. - Practical Cybersecurity (193 pages, 2025)
- 10,000+ professional connections, writing on AI security, GRC, and privacy
The promise
I don't sell your data. The newsletter is free. The book is cheap. The blog is open. If I can save one family from a scam or one small business from a ransomware payout, the work is worth it.
Stay safe out there.
